North Face – Photographs from the National Portrait Gallery is a unique region-wide project displaying ten portraits of famous people from the North East, from the fields of music, comedy, film, art, sport and journalism.

Nine of the portraits are on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. The tenth portrait, of internationally renowned folk musician Kathryn Tickell, has been specially commissioned for the exhibition by Tyne & Wear Museums.
These inspiring images are all on show at the same time in ten different cultural venues across North East England. During the North Face exhibition you can take advantage of a range of special discounts at a number of venues across the region, from 2 for 1 entry to cafe offers.
This is the first time these portraits have been displayed as an exhibition. So, enjoy these original photographs in unique settings and discover the link each portrait has with the region and with the venue in which it is being shown.
